Today more than ever, hundreds of thousands of children are brought into a world stricken by poverty and ignored by an indifferent society. Unlike their more fortunate counterparts born in significantly more developed areas around the world, most of these children fall victim to abandonment, neglect, or become orphaned early in life. Their futures are bleak and abysmal. They are hopeless…helpless. Children have the right and the need for the basic necessities of life – food to eat, a roof over their heads, and most importantly –love…without these things they have a minimal chance of survival.
It is our responsibility as people to provide for those children these bare essentials. With this in mind, it was therefore initially envisioned by the Bacaltos family, whose roots trace to Sibonga, Cebu , Phillippines, that by creating a foundation the fulfillment of its dream would no longer be a daunting task. However, focus must first be made on a particular locality - Simala, a community in the same municipality. Thus, on February 28, 2005 , Our Lady of Divine Grace Children's Foundation, Inc., was officially recognized and duly licensed by the Philippine Government through it's Department of Social Work & Development, to operate as a Residential Caring Institution.
Presently, the foundation is operating on a limited budget, doing it's best to reach out and extend its services to a greater majority of the underprivileged sector, specifically children. The founder have solely supported the foundation for the past 2004. There has been a need to expand because of the children but the founder alone cannot do it with meager resources but with your help we can house 100 kids at a given time. The foundation is optimistic that with assistance coming from kind-hearted, compassionate souls who share their vision, it can fulfill its objectives with more vigor and enthusiasm. Through our efforts we can make a difference in these children's lives. |
